ABIA BRIDES CHOICE AWARDS AS VOTED FOR BY MY BRIDES:

2011 GOLD KZN AWARD FOR MAKEUP

2012 SILVER COASTAL AWARD FOR MAKEUP

2012 GOLD COASTAL AWARD FOR HAIRSTYLING

I studied advanced make-up artistry at Brushstrokes in Cape Town. I am a professional make-up artist with diploma with all distinctions in advanced make-up artistry, colour theory and application, make-up and styling integration, make-up for fashion, TV, film, period, stage make-up and basic special effects, corrective make-up, dark skins, bridal and male make-up grooming (grooms and male models).

 Brides:

I specialise in bridal make-up, and I do makeup for all events and occasions.

Trials are all held in my home studio, but I travel to the venue of your choice on your wedding day.

 Hair styling:

Makeup application is my specialty; I do bridal hair for the bride only. I do hair styling for all other non-bridal events also, but only in conjunction with makeup, because I am first and foremost a makeup artist. Hair is just what I do as a special extra.

 Models:

I only do TFCD with models and photographers in the industry with whom I have worked on TFCD basis previously, because they helped to build my portfolio, and hence played a large part to promote me in this industry. Normal rates apply for new clients.

 Lessons:

I offer individual make-up lessons in my home studio for Smokey eyes only.

 Other:

I do makeup for fashion shows, photo shoots, TV, and trained for film and stage.

I am at your service!

Thank you

Dee

Dear Brides-to-be,

When you shop for your wedding makeup artist, be aware that these are desperate times and unethical suppliers will do almost anything. Please do not trust and support suppliers who try to win your business over, by criticizing the talents or products used by other suppliers. It is completely unprofessional, usually fabrications, and brings down this industry.

What Makeup do I Use?

I ALWAYS experiment with new products and ranges, which I test on myself first. A good make-up artist can make you look stunning using any make-up range - the trick is to make you look your best and to make the make-up last long, that is why I use the best professional artist makeup ranges where I can find the colours I want. I also use products from store ranges, because frankly most store ranges also offer quality products, or they might be the only brand which has a colour or product I want to try. I currently use and sell the Alila Professional Make-up Artists Range; however I don't believe in limiting myself to only one range. I believe a good make-up artist will always continue to experiment, this way she will discover new make-up colours, products and makeup ranges.

These days most makeup ranges are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, which is wonderful news for makeup artists.

Hypoallergenic: Decreased tendency to cause allergies; hypo means less, not none.

Non-comedogenic: Term applied to oils, lotions, and skin creams that do not block pores, which reduces the incidence of pimples.

Some of the ranges I use:

 Alila

Coverderm

MAC

PMU

Bobbi Brown

Kryolan
